PLACE/Ladywell presents the UK’s first ‘pop-up village’ providing 24 homes for homeless families alongside a ground floor reserved for community and enterprise use. Occupying the site of the former Ladywell Leisure centre, vacant land pending redevelopment,
PLACE/Ladywell offers a short-term solution to the high demand for housing in the Borough. The building, designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners is demountable and can be re-located to different sites of vacant land throughout the Borough.

I was comissioned by Studio Raw to work alongside designer Jeff Lambert, Lewisham Council, Aldworth James & Bond and building contractors design and project manage the interior of the ground floor space. The designs followed a six week research project to engage with the local community and understand perceptions of the surrounding area. We designed a variety of functional spaces in the bottom floor of PLACE/Ladywell. This includes a community cinema, a cafe, retail spaces and creative maker spaces.
