Informing the West Yorkshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy

This project brought together stakeholders from across West Yorkshire to shape the West Yorkshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy. These new strategies, introduced across England, aim to create a connected network of wildlife-rich places and boost biodiversity. The work involved designing thoughtful ways of listening to and collaborating with a range of stakeholder groups, overcoming barriers to engagement, and facilitating meaningful discussions to ensure that local voices directly informed the policy. Through different phases, we engaged with a variety of stakeholders, including farmers, landowners, young people, local community groups, and eNGOs.

My role focused on involving young people in the conversation, harnessing their growing interests and passions, while respecting their hopes and concerns for the future. Through creative workshops, we gathered their thoughts and co-created a manifesto, which was presented to WYCA to represent their peers across West Yorkshire.
